It has been some time since I last created a post to this blog. It is not because I have not traveled. On the contrary, I traveled to India again in 2012. I just didn't blog on that last trip. I have been asked (by my daughter) to consider adding more posts. So here goes...
I will be leaving tomorrow for a blitz-style excursion: one week on Manila, Philippines; one week in Hyderabad, India; and one week in Chennai, India. In the Indian cities, I hope to renew some old friendships and begin new ones. I have not been to Manila so this destination adds some excitement that I have not felt since my first trip to India in 2008.
In addition to the larger cities already listed, there are several side trips planned for fun: Corregidor and Bataan in the Philipines; and Kochi and Coorg in India. I don't know what to expect from the India locations. These destinations are apparently upscale and touristy. Of course Corregidor and Bataan have historical importance as World War II battlefields and memorials.
On the return trip to the United States, I will have a short layover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The layover is short enough that I will not have enough time to leave the airport. In my 2012 trip, I spent two days in Dubai on the way to India. So I will have the chance this time only to refresh my memories of the airport.
My company is very generous: when we travel internationally, we fly in Business Class seats on the international legs of the trip. Very nice! Quite a contrast to the Economy Class of the domestic portions of the trip.
Okay, it's time to get a few hours of sleep before the journey begins to Manila. Good night.
